Project Linus UK is a 100% volunteer non-profit organisation. Their aim is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children from birth to 18 years of age , who are seriously ill, traumatised or otherwise in need through gifts of NEW, HOMEMADE, WASHABLE quilts and blankets, lovingly made by volunteers. It is called a hug that they can keep.
Volunteers are all local to our area and to date have been providing quilts to children in Scunthorpe, Gainsborough and Retford. They rely heavily on the generosity of all the sewers and knitters to provide wool, fabrics and wadding but occasionally also ask for support from organisations to help purchase fabrics to make the quilts which not only take many hours to make but are also quite costly. Since April 2022 we have provided 134 quilts to children across North Lincolnshire alone. The vast majority going to Scunthorpe Hospital Disney Ward and the Women’s Refuge. I would also like to say that anyone who knows of a child who is ill can request a quilt on their behalf. Project Linus UK
