Isle of Axholme lions have donated £1,000 from their funds and to support the Food Banks in both Crowle and Epworth at this critical time.Lion President Glyn Snowden said: “This is significant sum of money that we are putting to good use straight away. As soon as we realised the potential problems some of our local residents might be having, in putting food on the table, at the end of March we made emergency payments from our funds, raised in the Isle, to both Food Banks. This Coronavirus pandemic is hurting lots of local people in lots of different ways - just because we are all social distancing doesn’t stop us from caring - we are doing what we can. This cash injection will help us do more in our local community to help those who need it most. We are delighted to be working with the Baptist Church in Epworth who are the focus of Food Bank assistance in the South of the Isle, and Mayor of Crowle Alan Rayment and Councillor Julie Reid on behalf of the Crowle Town Council Food Bank initiative.” When a humanitarian crisis strikes, the Lions Clubs Foundation of the British Isles works with and are guided by their own Lions members who are ordinary people actively working at the heart of their communities.
