Isle Lions were asked if they could help an under 5-year-old refugee from Ukraine who has Cerebral Palsy. Dimitry arrived in Epworth with his mum but without any assistive aids he had back home. Isle of Axholme Lions stepped in to try and help and one of the things available through their neighbouring Lions in North Notts Lions Club was a trike potentially suitable for Dmitry. Having been in storage for some time, the trike needed a bit more than TLC, so Lion David Hollier took it to J’s Cycle Shack in Epworth to see if they could work their magic on the trike. The challenge seemed a little beyond them with some rusted parts but Lion David spoke with Jones Engineering in Westwoodside who brought their skills to bear which allowed Kevin Dawson at J’s Cycle shack to transform the trike into a very usable piece of specialist equipment. Isle of Axholme Lions are most grateful to Kevin and the companies involved for so readily lending a hand to help make a young boy’s life just that little bit better. Pictured is Mark Summers (L) who, with his partner Pam is hosting Dimitry and his mum together with Kevin (centre) and Lion David Hollier. Also pictured is a very happy Dimitry.
